Four Input Exclusive-Or Gate

This circuit implements a Boolean logic function with four inputs and one output, where the output will only be "true" if only one of the four inputs is "true."

This function is useful for designs in which the activation of one condition inhibits the ability to activate the second, third, or fourth condition at the same time.

An application example is shown in the second illustration, where four different power-supply lines are fed to one output point. In this example it is imperative
to prevent more than one of the supplies
from being connected to the output point at the same time, since doing so would cause a "short-circuit" condition,
and the flow of destructive current.
